A bindi ( Hindi बिंदी meaning “dot”) is a forehead decoration worn in South Asia and Southeast Asia.
According to Hindu heritage, bindi worn by married Hindu women on their foreheads.

Bindis may be worn by women of Indian origin outside South Asia. Some western women who have converted to Hinduism may wear bindis. It can be worn as a style statement. For example, Shakira, Gwen Stefani, Madonna, and Shania Twain have been seen wearing bindis.

Throughout India , bindi, many believe it is suppose to be representative of the mystic third eye and become the central point of the base of creation Therefore, the traditional red dot (often made with tikka powder or vermillion) can be seen on men and women alike. When visiting a temple, it is common for the priest to mark, men, women, and children with this mark using his finger.
