The Beauty of the Philippines
It has been 11 years since the last time I went back to my homeland, the Philippines. I came to United States when I was 12 years old. I remember growing up in the Philippines, hanging out with my good friends, running around into the open field with my friends of course, playing football (Soccer), and climbing the huge mango tree by one of my friends’ house, Totong.
There was a story about that mango tree. Some say that a mythical creature lives inside the tree trunk and some say if you climbed up and fallen inside the hole, you will never go out. The people had been living there said that the mango tree was the rendezvous place of two young couple who were so much in love that they curved the hole inside the tree. No one knew what happened to them after the hole was discovered by the town’s people.

Any who, almost everyone would agree that the 7,107 islands that make up the Philippines is a true tropical paradise. With its palm-fringed, sandy beaches; rain forest-covered mountains; sapphire-clear seas and hospitable, fun-loving people, some say the Philippines is Asia’s best kept secret, but it has taken a long time for this exciting country to arrive at the doorstep of the twenty first century. The Philippines has developed a mixed culture from the blending of foreign influences with native elements.
